GENERAL Election is Tuesday, November 2, 2021
I learned karate at the Lower Bucks County Family YMCA. I was asked to join the board several times, and after referring four other karate blackbelts onto the board, it was my turn. I served for six years, during which time I headed the team that negotiated with the Central Bucks Y to merge with us to create a stronger, sustainable Y (YMCA of Bucks County).
For nine years I served on the board of our local 6th-12th grade charter school, The Center for Student Learning (CSL). For two of those years, I served as board president and CEO, seeing through the construction of our new school and ensuring ample student enrollment to sustain our specialized programs.
Thousands of students have benefitted from CSL's programs since it opened in 2002. CSL provides a learning environment for students who have experienced limited success in their former academic setting.
Me, with Gov. Corbett at the Pennsbury Manor on Charter Day in 2014. I have been on the board of the Pennsbury Society (the non-profit friends group serving the manor house, museum and grounds) for about nine years. I serve as the chair of the board's HR committee.
Pennsbury Manor is the 17th Century Country Estate of William Penn. The Manor is one of only 11 historic sites and museums in Pennsylvania currently accredited by the American Association of Museums.
It's an honor to work with its fine, dedicated staff and volunteers toward the noble purpose of keeping history alive through education, tours, and events.
